Story
Maggie's gave me the support I needed when I finished my cancer treatment 4 years ago. They helped me to understand my "new normal" with their support classes, put me on the path of healthy eating, helped me find what exercises I was able to cope with (the tai chi classes were amazing!) And the relaxation sessions definitely helped me destress. The people who work and volunteer there are wonderful and put you at ease the moment you walk through the door. Its a place to talk about your cancer fears with people who understand what you're going through, to learn how to cope with situations that can frighten you, above all it's a place where you can relax and laugh over cups of tea, not be embarrassed about crying on the shoulder of a stranger. I always walked out of Maggie's with a smile on my face, and I've met some wonderful friends who I can share my experiences with.
I'm supporting Maggie's Forth Valley by taking part in their Meander to Maggie's this September! Did you know that -67% of people suffer form anxiety and 42% of people with cancer suffer from depression3 in 5 people with cancer find the mental health challenge of cancer harder to cope with than the physicalHowever only 25% of people receive support. This is where Maggie's comes in.Maggies offers practical and emotional support to people with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free.
