During Margot's donor appeal in early 2014, Team Margot worked very closely with Delete Blood Cancer UK, the charity we are supporting. They do great work : they recruit potential stem cell donors and process their swabs - and they did everything they could to support us during what was a very difficult time.  

Every swab kit that goes through the system costs the charity £40 and we are raising money to help Delete Blood Cancer UK fund this effort.

We are also so grateful delighted to this charity because they managed to find our daughter a suitable donor match on their sister database in Germany. And as a result of that match, Margot was able to undergo a bone marrow transplant and stand the best chance of deleting her blood cancer.  

We know from Margot's experience that there are no guarantees, however we are nevertheless so grateful to Margot's anonymous donor for his selfless gift and for having enjoyed extended time with our daughter.

Sadly, only 50% of the people with a blood cancer needing a donor ever find one. So going forward, Team Margot is committed to continuing to help recruit more donors, particularly those with mixed genealogy. Our family’s mixed background was the key difficulty in finding Margot a perfect match.

We want to help save the lives of those who, just like us, never thought they would need a bone marrow transplant.
