The Great North Run Solo Challenge · 30 June 2020

We exist to inspire and empower people to make decisions and take actions every day that will help make human rights reality for all - to be ripples of hope in their communities and across the world. We run a transformative human rights education programme & The Ripples of Hope Festival.

Story

Thank you to you all for giving to my Great North Run Solo Challenge in order to support the commissioning of a poet for the Ripples of Hope Festival.  So happy we have gone over the target!  Thank you!

In February 2021, Robert F Kennedy Human Rights UK and HOME Manchester will host the first Ripples of Hope Festival, inspiring us to celebrate and share the ways we can, through our actions every day, help to make human rights a reality for all.

To support the charity to commission 30 poets from around the world to create new poems in response to the 30 Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to reveal them at the Festival, I am running 4 kilometres 40 times between June and 13 September 2020.  My fundraising target will help to commission a poet to write in response to one of the Articles of the Declaration.  After the Festival, the poetry will live on, continuing to inspire.  'Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world' - Percy Bysshe Shelley.
