Send a Child to Hucklow Is a charity which enables groups of disadvantaged children to have holidays in the countryside at The Nightingale Centre, Great Hucklow. 

The children the charity helps have very difficult lives, and are selected from various agencies such as women’s refuges, social service departments, schools etc. The only condition is that the children selected would not otherwise have a holiday. We all know that holidays are important as they help us to relax and have a break from things that worry us.

The trust funds the cost of the accommodation, travel to and from the centre, excursions and a ‘float’ for treats and visits. To enable this to happen the fund relies on donations. It costs about £350 to pay for a holiday for one child and enough money has to be raised to run holidays for 13 groups of children a year so we decided to enter the Birmingham Velo, cycling 100 miles to raise money for this worthy cause.
