Maria, here! As many of you saw, this past Summer I became involved with Experience Camps by volunteering at Camp BluEx just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. In a whirlwind of social media messages, I applied on somewhat of a "whim" unsure of what I was getting myself into. It was described to me as "The Best Week Ever," which are some lofty words to live up to. After taking a leap of faith and throwing myself into the mix of incredible volunteers, it held true. That week, those kids held my heart. They were braver than I ever remember being, as well as funny, bright, intuitive, silly, and some of the best dancers I know. This camp reminds all of us who are experiencing grief that there has to be joy in the life that you live, even when you are lost.
By donating to this organization, you are funding an experience that will help these kids navigate grief; a complicated layered emotion, that as even adults is difficult to understand. Your donations will go to their flights, food, faculties, clinical staff, activities, and so much more. To kids, (and all people), experiencing the death of someone close to them can be extremely isolating, but with Experience Camps, we are welcoming them into a family that will hold their hands when they need it, make them laugh when they didn't think they could, and dance when they didn't even know they knew how. Join me in supporting a cause that has changed my life. FTK (for the kids)
