Update: due to a bit of an incident at a workout back in April and a month of blood tests and echocardiogram - I'm now ready to run! 7th of July is the new date! 

Interfaith work - what is it and why is it important?

To understand different faiths and beliefs are incredibly important for a wide number of reasons. It helps promote tolerance in society, a better understanding of how your colleague, friend, neighbour or relative. 

Three Faiths Forum works incredibly hard via their School Linking programme, UN-awarded Parliamentors programme and a wide range of cultural projects to promote understanding, acceptance and tolerance - in schools, at universities, at a local and national level. This to reduce tension, misunderstanding and to provide a space for children of different backgrounds to learn more about each other and to grow up accepting their similarities and differences. 

I became involved with Three Faiths Forum's amazing work when I was doing an internship there in 2016. I had personally never reflected much upon faith in relation to myself or what role it plays in society. It was such an eye-opener when I saw the positive effect their work had on schools via the School Linking Programme, the social action projects that students from different backgrounds were able to pursue via Parliamentors. To see the amazing cooperation and enhanced understanding that came forward when students from such a wide range of different backgrounds came together was so inspiring. 

As we are constantly faced with the tensions and misunderstandings that can arise on a daily basis following lack of knowledge about different cultures, which is a platform for prejudice and hate.
