Big Fun Walk 2023 · 21 May 2023 ·
My partner Simon Hargreaves fought a very brave battle with cancer. Simon was 48 years old and in just 10 weeks cancer took him. Simon was incredibly kind, loving, and the most empathic human being I had the pleasure to share my life with. His passion for knowledge inspired so many and he was ever so generous with it which allowed others to be inspired too. His sharp wit and an endless supply of puns kept me and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him always laughing. Our short love story was full of tenderness, playfulness and blissful happiness. Our home was full of love and cancer has shattered our foundation.
In the 10 weeks that Simon had cancer, we were very fortunate to have great support and care. The North London Hospice did not just care for Simon, but they supported, and nurtured him and me, through the excruciating pain and plethora of cancer symptoms. The expert staff did this with love, honour and respect.
This year, I will be taking on the Big Fun Walk! I will walk 8.5 miles to help spread awareness and raise funds for North London Hospice. Every pound raised helps the hospice's care teams to provide the best quality palliative and end-of-life care and support for patients and families living with a life-limiting illness. This annual event is so important because all hospice services are provided completely free. With only 40% of funding coming from the NHS, they rely on donations from the community to raise £ 13 million each year.
I would be so grateful for donations of any amount.
