My Half Marathon Story
This charity is one close to my family’s heart for a few different reasons.
When I was 14 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Not long after I had my surgery to remove it, I was left with partial facial paralysis and complete loss of hearing and taste on my right side. Luckily with the support of all my amazing doctors my facial paralysis went back to normal after about 4 months. But I never regained my hearing or taste on this side. Thankfully after a few years of hard work and the help from my incredible team, who looked after me, I got back to doing everything I love doing and I will forever be grateful for that.
The mental journey afterwards, is what got me most. It's something people don't talk about enough, but it's so real, and so important.
I'm now 18, and I'm running a half marathon for The Brain Tumour Charity because I know exactly what it means to need that support. I want to help make sure other people going through this never feel alone.
This run also means something even more personal to me. My older sister also has a brain tumour along with multiple different disabilities. When she needs her surgery, I want the very best care, research, and support to be there for her.
Every step I run is for every person facing what I faced and every step is for my sister.
Please donate if you can — it means the absolute world to me, and to so many families just like ours. Thank you. 💛
