James and I met in 2012 and became engaged a few months after meeting. We married in 2014 and enjoyed travelling, theatre and a variety of concerts. He was a fit and healthy man never really visiting the Doctors. Until the 1st March 2021 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The following week they operated and explained James had 12 to 18 months to live he then started 6 weeks of intense treatment.  Unfortunately the treatment didn’t work and the tumour continued to grow. It is an aggressive and debilitating disease. James passed away on the18th October 2021 at the age of 62.

James loved Yorkshire and particularly Whitby so that is why I decided to choose this route to cycle. Likewise another reason to choose to cycle was because James bought my bike for Christmas for me.

This charity supported James when he needed them the most, particularly when he was having difficult days coming to terms with his diagnosis. They also  continue to support me with grief counselling. My councillor has helped immensely giving me reassurance that all the different emotions I have gone through are all ok to have and grief has no time scale.
