Thank you so much to all that already donate for this amazing project. 

I am Marian, qualified Social Worker with change vocation. After working in social inclusion in Spain and mental health and learning disabilities in Uk, my next project is working as Team Leader volunteer promoting women empowerment and local business in Nicaragua. 

This is not just my project, it is yours!! Because together we can change the world. It depends of all of us!!

Raleigh work on different projects focused on: 

- Youth entrepreneurship. Support young entrepreneurs in setting up small, eco-friendly bussiness with their communities promoting sustanible development. That will directly benefits them and local communities. 

- Women empowerment. Promote them to go to school, being aware of their rights and their opportunities when continuing secondary school . 

- SWASH (School, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) lessons. Citizens of local communities need adequate access to clean water and sanitation is rare. All volunteers will work together with the community in protecting water sources and setting up systems. It is important to held awareness about behavioural change analysis and hygiene meeting and monitoring how quickly the progress is being made. 

This projects are part of the Millennium Development Goals!!

Raleigh International is part of ICS, which works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of Raleigh International and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can to continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities. 

Amongst other things, I am organising life music events, contacting with local newspapers and selling second hand stuff a part from cake sale event. You can keep on track on Justgiving page or  https://www.facebook.com/MVSocialWorker/  

I will  keep you updated of every moment of this adventure of changing the world. Any contribution (does not matter how big or small!) will make a real difference into the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep!

Gracias a todos los que ya estais colaborando en este maravilloso proyecto! No tengo palabras para agradecer el apoyo.

Soy Marian, trabajadora social cualificada con vocacion de cambio. Despues de trabajar en integracion e inclusion social en España y vivir en Inglaterra trabajando con personas con discapacidad y salud mental, mi nuevo proyecto se orienta al empoderamiento de la mujer en Nicaragua.

Os aseguro que es un proyecto precioso en el que no solo yo participare. Este también es tu proyecto!!. Porque juntos vamos a cambiar el mundo!! Pues la igualdad depende de todo/as. 

ICS  trabaja con comunidades especialmente necesitadas de ayuda. Tambien tiene como objetivo inspirar a los jovenes a llegar a ser ciudadanos activos, apasionados sobre el desarrollo comunitario a largo plazo. 

La primera parte del reto es recaudar 800 libras para Raleigh Internacional como parte de ICS. El dinero recaudado ira destinado a ICS para continuar enviando jóvenes voluntarios que  ayuden a desarrollar una diferencia en las comunidades mas desventajadas.

En Nicaragua hay dos proyectos fundamentales en los que vamos a trabajar.
1. Potabilizacion de agua. 

Muchas de las enfermedades que se desarrollan en el lugar tienen un gran factor de transmision a traves del agua.  Para ello, Raleigh esta trabajando para proporcionar a las comunidades locales, alternativas para mantener el agua potable y segura su ingestion.  

Piensa que en el lugar al que voy no existen tuberias ni flitros para purificar el agua!

2. Empoderamiento de la mujer, jovenes y promocion de las economias locales.
Empoderar es: 'Conceder poder (a un colectivo desfavorecido socioeconómicamente) para que, mediante su autogestión, mejore sus condiciones de vida'.

Dichas mujeres empiezan a vender productos locales (leche, quesos, miel, etc) como medios para generar beneficio que pueden llevar a casa, proporcionandoles autogestion/independencia economica para ellas, sus familias y el futuro de sus hijo/as.
