As many of you may know, a colleague of ours, Diane Watt sadly lost her daughter Maria to leukaemia at the age of seventeen. As a way of channelling her grief into something positive, Diane decided to raise funds in Maria's name to support other teenagers with cancer. Diane has currently raised £90,000 towards the £100,000 required to fund a room named after her daughter at the specialist Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at Birmingham Childrens' Hospital which is on plan to open in March next year. We really wanted to help Diane achieve this goal, by raising at least half of the sum remaining - £5,000.
To this end the team from Allied Irish Bank (GB) completed the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 11th October 2009. Diane, and her mum of couse ran as well.
Despite the wet weather and a number of last minute injuries the whole team completed the course, and in doing so with your kind and generous support, we have well exceeded our £5,000 objective. Thank you from all of us to all of you who sponsored us.
