The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

Today is the 26th of April, the day the London Marathon should have taken place, and which raises much needed money for many charities. The 2:6 Challenge is an event put in place to fill this gap for a time until the marathon is held in October.

We have lost family members to cancer, most of whom were treated at the Royal Marsden in Kensington, London and Sutton. Their expertise and care is still close to our hearts 45, 30 and 10 years later respectively. We have friends who work there.

Our team is spread across Wimbledon, Limpsfield, Murcia and Miami. Our enduring friendships forged initially through sport (and cemented with 25+ years of (mostly) laughter), gave us the name Golden Girls (though obviously we are way too young!) along with quite a lot of blonde and strawberry hair going on, and entertainingly diverse personalities.

We will each walk, run or cross-train 2.6 miles a day for 26 days, according to the constraints of lockdown and childcare. I will row 26km daily. Our reigning tennis doubles World Champion will do the 100 volleys a day for 26 days from her Wimbledon hub. Ella (5) will hone her archery skills.. hopefully at the selected target as opposed to family members.

Please do support us so that we can support the memory of our fathers, sister and friends, and keep funds flowing where they are always needed.

Thank you so much,

Marie-Christine
