Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

Marie Curie

Marie Curie is an incredible charity that works to support individuals, families and communities throughout the end-of-life care process. Marie Curie is dedicated to funding the care of individuals living with terminal illnesses and having worked in care for the past two years I have seen the real impact quality end of life care has on families and their loved ones.

Fundraising

In order to fundraise for Marie Curie I am participating in a number of
challenges.

1. 24 Hour Marathon- In which over a 24 hour period Amelia and I will run a
marathon in hourly increments.

2. Kilt walk- 22 mile walk in and around Glasgow

3. Everest Base Camp Trek- 11 day trek, 5645m above sea level.

Where will the donation go?

80% of the donations raised through this just giving page will go to Marie Curie and the other 20% will go to essential facilitation of the Everest Base CampTrek. I anticipate I will personally donate over £600 towards the expedition and am paying for flights separately, to ensure the money that is kindly donated by others will go to Marie Curie and not the Trek logistics.

Why am I doing it?

I am extremely excited to take part in this challenge and to fundraise for Marie Curie (due to many of the reasons above). Further, it is a great opportunity for me to challenge myself with the 24 hour marathon and Kilt walk, as well as the incredible opportunity to explore Nepal and trek in the Himalayas.

Thank you for taking the time to read my just giving page and any donations will be greatly appreciated by myself and all of the amazing people at Marie Curie!
