Story
Thank You for your support to the Panzi Foundation!
We are a multicultural team of 6 employees of International SOS , who have decided to team up to swim the English Channel this summer. This challenge will see the team overcome the 35km of cold and choppy waters from Dover on the UK coast to Calais on the French coast, without a wetsuit in sight.
It will be an amazing personal feat and the team is raising funds for the Dr Denis Mukwege (Nobel Peace Prize 2018) Foundation and hospital , an international human rights organization based in DRC, dedicated to end wartime sexual violence. Their holistic model of care provides patients with services that meet the full spectrum of their needs: physical recovery and emotional support, legal assistance and community reintegration.
The Panzi hospital has earned world renowned reputation for its best in class service treating survivors of sexual violence and complex gynecological injuries, both traumatic and obstetric.
The team will swim in relay , each take a turn of an hour, continuing to take turns until the shore of France is reached. The swim was scheduled to take place between the 17th and 21st of July and is estimated to take about 15 hours depending on weather conditions. However, due to hash weather conditions in the channel, we had to abort this try. The team remains committed, and has secured the next slot for swimming the channel between 18 and 25th of August 2020.
A great personal and team challenge of a team truly living the value of International SOS!
