Story
Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by to see what I am up to. The TLDR; version is:
I'm biking for 5 days in India to raise money for a charity called Veganuary and live a personal dream of mine. And I need your help to accomplish it!
Read on for more details :)
The past few years I have been hearing about people doing a Veganuary challenge for the new year where they try out veganism for 30 days. In 2018, Veganuary had 168,500 registered participants from 165 countries and 62% indicated they intended to stay vegan! 82% said it was easier than they expected. I saw these stats and realized that this approach is direct, personal and effective. Just when I was looking for ways to support the work Veganuary does, they announced a fundraising campaign called Vegan Cycle India. It is a chance to not only raise money for Veganuary but also finally visit India while doing my favorite thing, biking! I couldn't refuse.
My goal is to raise a minimum of $2000 usd to donate directly to Veganuary. They require a minimum of approx $1300 usd (1000 gbp) and whatever I don't fundraise I will be paying myself. I have raised about $600 usd already through my birthday party in lieu of gifts and will raise the rest through this page along with future events. I will contribute approx $2000 usd of my own money on trip itself (flights, hotels, bike rentals, food, support, etc).
Please support me as I help Veganuary raise awareness about factory farming and help more people experience veganism worldwide (and also live a personal dream of my own at the same time!).
About the Trip:
- It will take place from 9-16 February 2019
- Five days cycling through Rajasthan and two days sightseeing at Agra (including the Taj Mahal) and Jaipur
- 410km cycle ride in total (254 miles)
About Veganuary:
The most abused animals on this planet –the farmed animals– are typically overlooked. We want to change that. Veganuary’s mission is to reduce the suffering of these animals by inspiring people to try vegan in January, and throughout the rest of the year.Farmed animals, just like cats and dogs, are able to experience pain and happiness. The mass production of animals for food and clothing has resulted in an industry that cares little for their well-being, and causes them to suffer in innumerable way. Help change the world for animals.
