My 9 year old Son Marcus who is my absolute world was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy on July 15th 2016
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy affects 2500 children (primarily boys) in the UK and many will lose the ability to walk before they reach their teenage years. Duchenne muscular dystrophy affects all muscles in the body, including the heart which causes heart and breathing problems later in life. The average life expectancy is mid to late twenties.
Over the past 2 1/2 years we have seen Marcus deteriorate, becoming weaker and there is nothing we can do about it as there is no treatment and no cure.
BUT what we can do is raise money to fund research into treatments (and hopefully one day a cure) in the hope that increased funding will result in a much better outcome for Marcus and all other boys and girls living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
And so I am taking the plunge on the longest zipline in Europe (and the fastest in the world!) from the top of Bethesda Quarry in Snowdonia at Zipworld Velocity.
