I have been involved with Toucan for Children since it began 8 years ago and I have seen first hand the impact that the service has had on so many children that were in need of therapeutic support. Although mental health and in particular children's mental health is being talked about much more, there is still a huge lack of funding. There are a lot of forgotten children out there who either don't have the means or opportunity to get the help they need and this is where Toucan for Children can really help. 

I love Africa and when speaking to a friend about wanting to take on a challenge like climbing a Mountain he suggested Mt Kenya and that he would do it with me, so that was a bonus! We both agreed that we would do it in aid of Toucan. We are both self-funding the trip to ensure all the money we raise goes towards helping children who need it. 

Mt Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second largest in Africa and lies 16.5km south of the equator. We will be trekking to the highest climbing point, which is Point Lenana that stands at 4,985 metres. The climb will take us 5 days with our predawn attempt to the summit starting on Day 4 at 0300hrs. Training is in full swing and any support you can give would be massively appreciated!
