We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This May, I'll be running the Leeds Plusnet Half Marathon, raising money for Alzheimer Research UK, a charity close to my heart because my Dad, Ray, has been living with the disease for 7 years (or more).

Over 850,000 people live with Dementia in the UK, and the age of diagnosis is getting scarily low. A disease often associated with the elderly, my Dad was diagnosed at just 52 years old. Alzheimer Research UK are proactively researching for a cure, so that we no longer have to watch our loved ones losing all the precious memories of their life.

At £24 billion each year, dementia costs the UK economy more than cancer and heart disease combined - yet over two thirds of the care is paid for by patients themselves or their family - with such disproportionate funding, finding a cure is so vital.
