Hi,

We became friends a few years ago when we started running together. As we got closer, we discovered that we both really valued the importance of reading from a young age and that it was an element we both promoted at work as well.

We both believe that reading is essential in for children and their
development, especially in today’s world where we are constantly surrounded by screens. 

Books are much more than reading, they are an adventure full of surprises where one can dream, learn, share and push boundaries to follow their own path while also enjoying themselves!

For us Love to Learn to Read highlights these aspects and emphasises how reading is essential in the education of young people. This is why we are passionate about this purpose and running this half marathon together for them in October 2022 means a lot to us.

More about our charity: They are a small charity working in Wandsworth, supporting children's literacy from 0 to 11 years. Many families we work with live in crowded social housing, with cramped living space and limited online access. For all these reasons, COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on these childrens early development and later reading progress; children currently being referred for our support are struggling more than we have ever seen before. From September 2022 we are expanding our work to serve children from 0 to 11 years, building long-term supportive relationships with families.
