I was diagnosed Diabetic in July 2012. A real life changer. I have had highs and lows along the way.

So, I have signed up for Diabetes UK "SWIM22", to swim 22 miles (the length of the English Channel), at my own pace, in a swimming pool, over 3 months from 22nd February until 22nd May. 🐳

Well, I got some practice in this morning at 7am, I swam 32 lengths of a 20 metre pool, so that's 640 metres done.

I also swam 280 metres on Monday morning at the MacDonald Holyrood Hotel  Edinburgh, in their 14 metre pool. so that's 920 metres this week.

22 miles is approx 36,000 metres.

I will need to celebrate with a French meal and a large glass of French wine when I reach the other side in May!

The last sponsored event I took part in was White Water Rafting, about 15 years ago on the River Tay with colleagues, when we raised over £3000 for Leprosy relief, and previous to that was a swimming event at  school.
