Since working at Eikon since October 2020, I’ve been involved in delivering youth work online through Covid, a project to support young people with their transition from primary to secondary school, community youth led youth groups and now across secondary schools in Waverley. Every day I see how much and how many young people need support with their well-being and it’s clear this has been made more important because of Covid. However I also see how much difference every single penny makes to all the amazing work that is possible by colleagues and that’s why I’m running and raising money for Eikon!
Young People have been some of the hardest hit by the restrictions that have been put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The resulting effect on their emotional wellbeing and mental health has been huge. Eikon is a Surrey based charity that has been working in the local community for over two decades, providing long-term support to some of the countys most vulnerable young people and their families. The Charity's focus is on preventative and early intervention work to help young people stay on the right path and overcome issues before they become serious.Over the past 10 years, Eikon has supported over 85,000 vulnerable young people from all backgrounds in Surrey, through community based youth services, schools based youth specialist services and whole school wellbeing programmes. They now urgently need financial support to enable them to help vulnerable children and young people during Covid-19 assisting them with their mental health needs and improving their wellbeing.
