Story
Hi everyone,
At 4:15am on Sunday morning I met the walkers at Beachy Head to join them watching the beautiful sunrise over Eastbourne. Everyone was still in high spirits despite sore feet, after a 21km, 5.5hr walk. Skylarks were singing for much of the walk, and they were talking about the stars, the light falling on the high chalk pathway and nice woody paths as the route dropped into the villages of Alfriston and Jevington. An unforgettable experience.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part, most of all Jamie & Abi, Dan & Nat, Cody, Amy, Nykkie & Steve and Robin & Louisa for walking all that way. I am also very thankful to the rest of my family and friends for their support of myself and this cause. Finally, I would like to thank everyone who donated to RNIB Talking Books, it really means a lot to me and can improve the lives of many people like me.
I will keep this page open for anyone who would like to continue to support. Every additional £40 donated can fund RNIB to offer the service to someone for a whole year.
Best wishes,
Marjorie

After losing my sight to macular degeneration, Talking Books has given me so much comfort and entertainment. Reading has always been a big part of my life, and to be able to continue despite these challenges is something I am very grateful for. The Talking Books help break up my day, and give me a chance to hear stories, documentaries and news, bringing back memories and giving me new interests.
I regularly listen to BBC Breakfast to hear about the charities being supported locally and nationally. However, I have not heard anyone raising funds for this cause. As it has made such a difference to my life, I decided I should try and raise money myself. I want to pay it forward and give the same opportunity to those who might need it now and in the future.
At 92 I am unable to walk very far, but I am very lucky that many of my close family have volunteered to do this in my place. Together, Jamie & Abi, Dan & Nat, Cody, Amy, Nykkie, Robin & Louisa are going to walk over 13 miles (20km) along the South Downs Way from Firle Beacon car park to Beachy Head.
The walk will take place at night, reminding us of the challenges many people with similar conditions face getting around as part of their daily lives. The aim is to make it to Beachy Head before sunrise on one of the shortest nights of the year, which coincides with my wedding anniversary.
Please give generously, each Talking Book takes £1500 to produce, but can improve the lives of many people. We appreciate everyone who supports this worthwhile cause.
All money raised will be restricted to RNIB Talking Books.
