Story
My story
My story isn't truly my story but my fiancé's story. A number of year's ago her father Julian was diagnosed with terminal cancer. In Julian's last months, Marie Curie nurses provided vital care and support to Julian and his family. Knowing someone who has experienced the care and support Marie Curie provides first hand has helped me to understand the importance of the work they do. I will be running to raise money so their vital work can continue.
Manhattan 32
Brought together by our Manhattan running club in the West Village, we have decided to raise money for a number of fantastic causes by running a 32 mile ultra marathon around Manhattan. An ultra marathon is defined as any footrace longer than the traditional marathon length of 42.195 kilometres (26 mi 385 yd). While we are all keen runners, none of us have achieved ultra marathon status yet so this will be a huge challenge for us all and one we hope you will agree is worthy of your donation and support. You can see the charities we are running for on each of our individual pages; with each one holding a special place in our hearts.
As we embark on this challenge here is a quote taken from Marie Curie "Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood."
Please visit each of the pages we have created to read a little more about why we are running for these great causes and thank you for your support.
