Story
It’s no secret that my wife Emily has and continues to suffer with her mental health.
3 years ago she attempted to take her own life at beachy head . She was incredibly lucky to have been spotted by a passer by and supported by the charitable workers on scene and the police . The outcome could have been very different and we as a family would have been left without her
Life has changed immeasurably since then and that is mainly down to finding a passion for fitness .
I have always been her biggest supporter, never giving up on her and fighting for the care and treatment that she needed . I was able to speak up and out for her when she couldn’t and witness her face her personal battles with grit and determination and now it’s my turn …
I will be running the South downs ultra marathon in aid of CALM on September 2nd. A charity that stands up to suicide . That speaks out and starts difficult conversation. They stand together with everyone who’s struggling with life, no matter who they are, where they’re from or what they’re going through. And they do it through our life-saving services, national campaigns, and by building communities.
The south downs ultra is a 100km run , taking me ,my friend and coach Ray up and over Beachy head , a long tough slog through Seven sisters country park , devils dyke and Brighton seafront . Finishing after 62 miles in Arundel .
Running past the place in which I nearly lost my wife will be not only be physically demanding but mentally challenging but something I know I can face with your support.
I would really like to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity and we are asking you to spare as much or as little as you can ! Suicide is the most preventable cause of death … your support will make a change ! I have seen the difference first hand . Please support me any way you can .
Many thanks
