Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page...

Most of you have met our gorgeous twins Nell and Erin, time passes so quickly and next year it’s hard to believe they will be celebrating their 3rd birthday.

Unfortunately we were not able to conceive without the help of the Hewitt Centre for Assisted Conception based at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.  IVF is one of the most traumatic experiences a couple can go through, the trauma of failed treatments and the realisation that you may spend the rest of your life childless when all your relatives, friends & colleagues have families is something no one show go through.

The Hewitt Centre is an amazing place, both the professionalism and caring shown by the staff is to a standard I’ve never experienced before be it the leading consultants, medical staff, counsellors or clerical staff.  We experienced both failed and successful IVF cycles and the support we received was unbelievable.

Helen and I will never forget how lucky we are and I always wanted to do some sort of fundraising event to raise money for the Hewitt centre as a way of thanking them.  Most of you know that I’m a keen cyclist so it seemed natural that I would do a charity bike ride.

One of Britain’s most popular rides is the Coast-to-Coast, leaving Whitehaven on the west coast the route takes you to Sunderland on the east coast.  Normally this is a relaxing ride enjoyed over anything between 3-5 days.  I will be attempting this in a single day; 217km and 3,734m ascent or put another way climbing Ben Nevis, Snowdon, Scaffel Pike (the highest mountains is England, Scotland and Wales) with still a bit left to get well over half way up Moel Famu as well !

The Liverpool Womens NHS Foundation Charitable Trust is a charity linked to the hospital, it covers several areas one of which is the Hewitt Centre Assisted Conception Fund.  All donations my through this site will be going directly to this particular fund of the charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep, I know times are tough and we all get given sponsorship forms almost every week from work mates/friends but even the smallest amounts will help.

Please take a look at my blog as I prepare for the big ride...
