We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Charity Registration No. 295716

Story

Matthew is now 11 years old. He was diagnosed with  Type 1 Diabetes in September 2010, when he was just six years old. In this time he has tested his blood on average 10 times a day, that's over 17,500 finger pricks! He has counted the carbohydrates for everything he has eaten and he has injected a calculated dose of insulin just to keep himself alive. Type 1 is an auto-immune condition and is not due to lifestyle and it cannot be prevented. No child should ever have to deal with this condition, which is why I am once again raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). We need to find a cure.

Raising £2000 is a big ask therefore I need to up my game. I have decided I need to do more than simply run a marathon!

In addition to running my third London Marathon on 24th April 2016, I will also be completing a Half Iron Man Triathlon on 2nd July. This involves a 2.3 mile swim, a 56 mile cycle and then a half marathon to finish.

Along the way I will also complete the Winter Wolf Run (a muddy 10K obstacle race), the Keyworth Turkey Trot Half marathon, the Silverstone Half marathon, the Ashby20 (20 mile) and the Ramathon Half marathon plus any others I can fit in. I will also be trying to achieve a Guinness World Record in the London Marathon.

JDRF is committed to finding a cure and helping children like Matthew manage their condition effectively. Please help us to achieve this aim.
