Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

It will be 10 years on 3rd January since David Quinney died aged 26 from an un-diagnosed heart condition having previously seemed perfectly fit and well. Unfortunately it is an all too frequent event, with 12 young people in the UK dying each week in similar circumstances.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is a charity which supports berieved families, raises awareness of the condition, and (perhaps most importantly) arranges screening sessions where professionals examine ECG heart scans to identify defects which can then be treated.

Mark Salthouse and I were friends with Dave and have decided to get off the sofa to raise some money for CRY in Dave's memory. Along with Tommy Brady we will be cycling the 170 mile route climbing over 6000 ft and burning around 8000 calories each, on Saturday 21st June. Before May this year none of us had ridden over 50 miles in one day, and we won't have gone over 100 miles in training so it's very possible we will be cycling from 5am unil very late at night - or early the next morning.

Please give generously and join me in praying for a 50mph Westerly wind!!!
