I am running in the Great North Run this September. It is my fouth time running it, but the first time I have asked you for sponsorship. I am looking to raise money for a cause that I feel passionately about, and that will give real benefit to a local community but also to other far reaching groups that touch many more lives.

We are in the process of raising money for a major building project at St Peter's Church in Harrogate. The project will provide many new facilities for the church including a Community Hall. This hall will be used by local community groups and charities desperate for space in which to carry out their good work in the centre of Harrogate. Such groups include Narcotics Anonymous, Amnesty International, The Royal British Legion, the Red Cross, and St Michael's Hospice. In addition it will allow Youth Groups, and Scout groups to run.

We also provide daily Breakfast to the homeless of Harrogate, and the money raised will provide for new kitchen and catering equipment to allow this to continue.

This is a big project costing c. £2.3m, and we have raised over £2.1m already leaving the final £150k to find. This is a really worthwhile cause that will materially benefit the local community, and those most in need of help. Please give generously!
