Mark's Sofa to 200 Miles

Sofa to 200 Miles · 31 July 2020
At the start of lockdown, like so many people I made sweeping claims that I was going to get fit, go out cycling, learn to play the guitar, and make bread . . . I've made lots of bread, however, the rest of those ideas are still waiting to be fulfilled, until now!
I have always loved cycling, when I was younger I used to cycle all the time. One day I had bad crash and it dented my confidence as well as damaging me. I just stopped cycling and for the past few years have tried so many times to get back into it, but my anxiety always wins and finds an excuses to not go out on the bike that sits unused in our dining room!
So, I've decided I needed to have something I am passionate about to motivate me, and what better motivation than raising funds for a charity I volunteer for and care about deeply.
I have set myself the task of cycling 200 miles during the month of August - to a lot of you that wouldn't be a challenge, but to me it is, I am having to deal with my irrational anxiety and the fact that I am so unfit at the moment.
All money raised will go to My Black Dog, who offer a peer to peer messaging service to those who are struggling with Mental Health issues.
I will update my progress weekly, and hopefully will go beyond the 200 mile target!
