Robin Hood Half Marathon for Cancer Research 12 September 2010Post run update - I completed the half marathon on a warm Sunday morning in Nottingham on 12 September 2010 in 2hr 7mins 27secs. Thanks to everyone who supported me and once I've collected all the sponsorship in, we'll have beaten the £1500.00 target. Thank you for kind donations and messages of support!
Mark Govan, pictured here on ‘Cycle To Work Day’, will be swapping pedal power for ‘pied’ power when he runs the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham on Sunday 12th September 2010.
A lovely friend of my wife and I has recently had surgery and is currently undergoing cheamotheraphy treatment, and another friend has just been diagnosed with Cancer for the third time; I will be running on behalf of Cancer Research and am hoping to raise in excess of £1500.
Having ‘shoe-horned’ the combined physical attributes of Olympic track cyclist, Chris Hoy and distance runner, ‘the great Haile Gabrselassie’ into my 9 stone 5 frame (okay 9 stone and 5 stone!), I can confirm that training has being going well, but a minor Achilles problem put me back a week or so. Nevertheless, I am determined to complete the run.
If you are in/around Nottingham on race day, please come along and cheer me on, together with the other 13,000 running on the day!
Thank you for your support.
