The Challenge

3v3v3: 3 days, 300 miles and 3 coasts.

The idea for the challenge was conceived by Mark Green and will see cyclists circumnavigate Devon in just three days. The second largest country in England, it is also one of the hilliest. In total there will be 26,000ft of climbing, Mount Everest, by comparison, is 29,000ft above sea level.

The riders will begin on the south coast, and travel north through an abundance of the beautiful countryside before reaching the north coast, before returning back south again.

Day 1

The grand depart will take place at Beacon Quay, Torquay. The group will travel along the south coast, before heading north at Plymouth, finishing the day in Tavistock.

Day 2

The shortest day of the challenge will see the riders travel north from Tavistock, join up with and then ride along the Tarka Trail, closing the day out in Ilfracombe.

Day 3

The county is at the mercy of the riders, or is it the other way around? The group will set off from Ilfracombe, heading south across Exmoor, and Dulverton, before reaching the coast at Budleigh Salterton. The riders will then come back along the coast, before returning to Beacon Quay in Torquay for a party at the Below Decks restaurant.

The Charity

Above Water is the water education & safety charity that sends teachers who are qualified lifeguards into schools to teach and promote adventurous water activity, provide water safety education, teach drowning prevention techniques and aquatic first aid. It is totally FREE for a school to book a visit by Above Water. Lifeguards deliver whole school assemblies, single lessons, all day activities, after-school parent water safety awareness & first aid and more.

Above Water is passionate about educating children in water safety and believes the best way to guard against drowning is to educate by sending professional open water beach lifeguards into schools. Using our own E.S.C.A.P.E WATER programme to comprehensively deliver drowning prevention and water awareness to local communities.
