Burnley Aerobatic Racing Pilot Spectacular Guinness World Record Attempt

In association with Kirkbride Airfield
In aid of Pendle Hospice

On Saturday 27th August 2016, 12 midday to 1pm (weather permitting), Burnley pilot Mark Hanson will attempt to break the world record for the number of aircraft take-offs and landings in one hour.
This will take place at Kirkbride Airfield who are giving full support and backing by giving Mark full use of the airfield and its one mile runway and by temporary closing the Airfield to other aircraft.

The current record is 36 take-offs and landings for an ultra light aircraft but each time the aircraft must climb to 1000 feet before landing again.
Mark Hanson is a 43 year old pilot from Burnley who flies the fastest aerobatic and capable aircraft. The German manufactured 300L Extra is a very light carbon-fibre based aircraft with a powerful 8 litre engine. These are exactly the same as used by the Red Bull pilots. Mark has been flying this aircraft for 12 months after buying it in Poland and flying it back to his base at Blackpool airport.

He is the owner of Quicker Demolition and Skips and is married to Adele and has three children.
He is also a member of the High G Aerobatic Display Team and has just returned from racing at Sherburn Airfield where he and his Navigator have just won first prize, Twice! in The Royal Aero Club Air Racing series and is currently lying in third place across the whole of the UK.

Like too many people, Marks family life has been affected by cancer and he wanted to do something very different for Pendle Hospice who have helped him, his family and friends alike. He feels they do an amazing job without enough credit and this attempt goes a small way to thanking and appreciating the Hospice.

The attempt will be very challenging. Because of the power of the aircraft the take-offs will not be the problem. The G forces climbing to 1000 feet in seconds and then diving back to the ground will feel exactly like being sat on The Big One at Blackpool non- stop for and hour. The other challenge is repeatedly landing such an advanced  and sensitive aircraft that prefers being airborne.

It's a very hard challenge and has already had a number of big set backs (including the British weather) so your support even if small is greatly appreciated. Feel free to come and support if you can. The attempt is being filmed for a documentary so be part of history or an exciting attempt.
