The Friends of Kent Churches organise an annual Ride and Stride on the second Saturday of September to raise money for churches in Kent.  It has been going for years - other counties do the same.

Country churches matter to our community and our heritage - but they cost a lot to look after.  Often the cost falls to the worshippers in that parish - though  they aren't the only ones to benefit from the building.

Last year we cycled to 16 churches, covering 15 miles from Faversham to Whitstable, with our little convoy of 4 bikes and a tag-along.  Amazingly we raised £826, or over £1000 including Gift Aid. This year we will each be on our own bike,  but we're still planning to do better: at least 17 miles and 17 churches, maybe even 24 churches, starting in Minster (Thanet) and cycling to Whitstable from the other direction. We want to try and do better with sponsorship too!
