Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity bringing individuals, families and professionals together to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Story

Harry is one of the son's of our great friends Sue and Tom.  He will celebrate his 6th birthday in August.  Like many young boys he is having a birthday party at a local soft play. Harry is completely adorable, a very cheeky chap who will try and get away with anything using his gorgeous smile. He loves swimming and a "bit of a boogie" and takes great delight in winding up his 7 year old brother Jack.

Back in summer last year we were given news that stopped us in our tracks. After a trip to Great Ormond Street and a muscle biopsy it was confirmed that Harry has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. By his 10th  birthday it is likely he will be in a wheelchair and his upper body will then begin to shut down due to this rare and painful condition, leaving him locked inside his own body.  As a muscular degenerative disease eventually his heart and lungs will fail, almost certainly before he is 30.

The most difficult part - there is no cure, it will happen and it is 100% fatal.

A large amount of research currently taking place in the UK and abroad which could really make a difference.  I am taking up the Spartan Challenge on 30th August 2014 and hope you can support me in raising funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research to help the wonderful Harry.

Offline I have already raised £380 and hope to do more in the coming weeks. Anything you can donate will help.
