Mark McGowan is raising money for Sense

Participants: Jay Owen is a young autistic climber who joined John and I with the other members of the Eiger Paraclimbing Team in 2015. Jay has never walked a disctance such as this in one go so it will be challenging but his strength of spirit will see him through.

For everyone living with complex disabilities. For everyone who is deafblind. Sense is here to help people communicate and experience the world. Our experts offer support through our centres, holidays, or in people’s own homes. We are here for everyone who needs us, for as long as they need us.

Story

I am sight guiding John Churcher (1st Deafblind climber to summit the Eiger) along with assistance from young Jay Owen (an autistic climber from the Eiger Paraclimb) and together we are fundraising for Sense, a national charity that supports people with complex communication needs, including those who are deafblind, to be understood, connected and valued. They are there for every person who faces communication barriers in a world that relies on being able to see and hear well to be connected. Together, we can unlock barriers to communication so no one is isolated, left out or unable to fulfill their potential.
