Story
I'll be running the Great North run for my daughter Bethaney Magen Patterson, she was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease at 16 and sadly passed away May 2023
She was our mito warrior who never complained once throughout her fight, she was funny, caring, happy and had such an amazing querky personality, that will be cherished in our memories forever, but every year that passed for our Betty boop the disease got worse and the lily foundation were always their supporting us, offering advise, or just an ear to listen, they've been a beacon of light throughout our toughest and darkest times and I wanted to help to give something back, so they can keep on helping and supporting other families fight against mito and hopefully one day find a treatment or cure for this awful disease, so please donate and help me support this great charity.
The Great North Run is an iconic running event starting in Newcastle upon Tyne the route takes runners through the city centre towards the River Tyne, across the iconic Tyne Bridge continuing through Gateshead and South Shields. Did you know every day in the UK a baby is born who will develop mitochondrial disease? Each member of Team Lily will be running for them and the 10 million people in the UK who suffer from diseases in which mitochondrial dysfunction is believed to be involved. This disease is debilitating, there is no cure and lives are cut far too short. The Lily Foundation's aim is to one day find a cure for mito. As the UK's leading charity dedicated to fighting mitochondrial disease, our mission is to support people whose lives are affected by the condition, raise awareness and fund research into its prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Please support me by donating as much as you can as I run 13.1 Miles and together we will make a difference.Thank You
