It's been 25 years since I first went to the Balkans. Returning has been a long held aim of mine. Beautiful countryside, dramatic and undiscovered....

I'll be walking 100km between Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo - a tough circular trek where a small team of us will rest up in mountain huts along the way.

I'll be raising money for a small local charity that deliver health and education work in remote areas of the region. 100% of the funds raised will go to these projects. You can donate a small amount here, or perhaps share this page with friends.

One key project we will be raising money for is the 'I AM' project. So many people in Eastern Europe have no identity papers for many different reasons. However it means that children can't access education, old people can't qualify for a pension and family can't get any financial help for basic necessities. They are the forgotten people and have no way of changing their circumstances. We are aiming to help as many people as possible obtain birth certificates and identity papers in order to change their lives and become a person who is recognised rather than continue to be invisible.

My wife and father made this trip happen - so all credit to them for inspiring this adventure!
