Big Battlefield Bike Ride · 24 May 2010
Hi
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
There is only one week to go and the training is coming to an end. The photo above is of me competing in an actual cycle race. 47 miles through the hills of Cheshire in a little under 5 hours. Only about 800 poeple overtook me in that time. But I finished which is the main thing. The people of Stamford and Rutland are getting used to seeing a large yellow bumble bee cycling slowly on the roads around here.
Have now got to the point where I can do 140 miles in a weekend and I have managed to do a few 70+ mile rides in training. There is one last weekend of training before I get ready for the big event. i then have to ease down and do a couple of light rides. I would have never have thought at the start of this that I would consider 25 miles as a "light ride" so i think I must be geeting fitter. I still do have to keep focusing on what a fantastic charity I am raising money for when I get saddle sore at the end of a ride.
Really looking forward to the ride now. A mixture of nerves and excitement is building up now but the thought of arriving in Dunkirk in time for the 70th Anniversary of the evacuation is keeping me going and I know it will be alot of fun.
