Lands End to John O’ Groats Virtual Challenge · 22 November 2021
On the 15th September 2021, my wife, Charlene, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. She has undergone one round of intensive chemotherapy and is currently in the middle of a second, with the ultimate goal of receiving a Bone Marrow Transplant in the New Year.
I am taking part in the the Lands End to John O'Groats virtual challenge to raise as much money as possible for the charity, LINC (The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund), who are based at Cheltenham General Hospital.
LINC provide help to patients who have this awful disease as well as providing all additional care and support to Rendcombe side rooms which are based within Cheltenham Hospital Oncology. Patients who stay in these rooms are often there for extended periods of time away from family and friends which can be isolating and scary. They are often unable to work for months at a time due to the treatment they are receiving which can be added worry to an already stressful situation. This is where LINC can help, so any money raised for this charity would be so gratefully received and could help so many people.
