Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During 2014 I am going to endure pain and suffering taking part in several cycling sportives in order to raise money for Clan House Cancer Support and MacMillan Cancer Support who helped and comforted my mother (Dot Stephen) during her final months battling Lung Cancer.

So far I plan to take part in the following events with more to be added when registration opens.

Cairn o' Mount - an 80 mile cycle ride starting in Edzell Muir, heading for Fettercairn before heading up Cairn o'mount, down to Clachan, into Stonehaven before taking the coast road to Inverbervie before heading back to the start/finish line. (24th May 2014) Completed in 6hrs 8 mins

Bealach Beag - a 43 mile cycle ride, The Bealach is the UK’s biggest road climb at 2053ft (626m) from sea level in just 6mls (10k). It is set in a fabulous unspoilt landscape with outstanding views of the sea and the hills. The Applecross Peninsula is renowned as a gem in Scotland’s crown of natural wonders. (11th July 2014) Completed in 4hrs

Ride The North - a 170 mile cycle ride from Inverness to Aberdeen over two days (29-30th August 2014) Day 1: The opening section is between Inverness and Dulsie Bridge, partly along Route 7 of the National Cycle Network. The route climbs gently into the Cairngorms National Park to pass through Carrbridge, Boat of Garten and Grantown before following the Spey Valley back towards Cardhu.  In the heart of Speyside Whisky country the route crosses over to Dallas and then to Elgin. Day 2: The second day heads back into the heart of Malt Whisky Country on Speyside visting the town of Dufftown its then over the spectacular Cabrach to Donside and the Suie Hill. The final section features from Monymusk leads into the Granite City of Aberdeen.
