Amazing support, thank you all very much. If you want to follow me as challenge takes place follow me on twitter @marks3peaks

Tim was a great friend to many people. He always had a smile and a truly infectious personality. Nothing was ever too much, he was always willing to help. Tim had a passion for adventure and was training for the 3 Peaks challenge in 2011 when he became ill.

Sadly Tim passed away on 27th July 2011 following a short fight with cancer.

A group of Tim's close friends and family have decided to pick up the Gauntlet on Tim's behalf and take part in the 3 Peaks Challenge this year in honour of Tim's memory. We feel it fitting that we should raise money for McMillan Cancer Support in recognition of all their hard work. Most of the people taking part have had to deal with losing a close friend or family member other than Tim to cancer, I also lost my sister Nicola in December last year after she had undergone a lengthy fight against cancer of the heart and later a brain tumour.

I think that this is a truly deserving charity to support. Both Tim and Nicola will, I am sure, be smiling down on my efforts of trying to get fit in time for the end of June.

If you can help with some sponsorship towards this attempt at one of this country's hardest challenges, please donate -  it will spur me on.
