Story
As most of you will know, Mark William Carruthers passed away on the 3rd June 2018 of a heart attack. This was of course very unexpected and sudden for all of us, as he was a very healthy and active person.
As a result, my friends and I are taking part in the Port Sunlight 10K in memory of my dad. My dad loved running and did so every morning at 5.45am around the streets outside of his much loved gym, The Fitness Connection in Seaforth. It didn't matter if it raining, if it was windy or even if it was snowing, he would always be the first to the gym to go running with his friends at 5.45am before the gym opened! The usual distances in the more recent years were between 3 - 5 miles. He would then take part in a Spin Class (Mon/Wed/Fri) or a Circuit Training Class (Tue/Thur).
As you can see from reading the above, my dad was an extremely active man and really does prove that heart attacks can happen to anyone at any given time. This is the reason we have chosen the British Heart Foundation as our charity as it may only be a small difference we're making, but it's a worth while one. If we can prevent something similar happening to another family, then our job here is done.
To anyone that is running on the day, coming along to cheer us on or just donating to this worth while cause, I really do from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You have made a difference in more ways than you know.
Thanks for reading my story.
