Transforming a field at the back of the school into an inspirational and safe activity space that can be enjoyed by the children throughout the year.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

It is estimated that the current generation of children will live 5 years less than their parents. This is due to the growing obesity problem. Government recommendations are that children participate in 60 minutes exercise each day to combat child obesity, which is why many schools are now participating in “the daily mile”. Currently there is insufficient useable all weather outdoor space at Launton School. The vision is to transform a field at the back of the school into an inspirational and safe activity space that can be enjoyed by the children throughout the year. Currently we have a field which cannot be used for 9 months of the year as the ground is not dry enough, as a result the children have to play on the school playground, which is too small and therefore overcrowded whilst also having no activities for the children. There is insufficient space for the children to participate in the ‘daily mile’ which many primary schools are now undertaking. Our vision is to build a path around the field, which will be accessible in all weathers, with creative play equipment installed at activity stations along the path. This transformation will enable the children to have fun and to achieve the 60 minutes daily exercise that is recommended for children. Please help us to help these young children by donating.
