Story
Hello my wonderful friends.
This October, I’m taking on the 1 Mile a Day in October challenge to raise vital funds for lung cancer support and research.
Lung cancer is often very difficult to detect until it is advanced, due to its silent growth phase. As David devastatingly found out
As most of you sadly know from having an aching shoulder, x-rays and an MRI scan David was told 2 days later he had stage 4 lung cancer that had spread to his liver and lymph nodes. 8 weeks later he died in my arms.
I’m walking in memory of dear David and in honour of everyone affected by lung cancer - those currently facing it, those we’ve lost, and the families who carry on in their memory. I’ll walk a mile every day, in my own time and in my own way, turning each step into support.
Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK, with more than 130 people diagnosed in the UK every day. The money raised through this challenge will help fund life-saving research, provide comfort and care to patients, and ensure no one has to face this disease alone.
I’m doing it to make a difference. I’m walking for those who can’t, and for the hope of a better future.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to a world where lung cancer is caught earlier, treated more gently, and survived more often.
Please make every mile in October I walk matter. Together, we can walk toward change.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️.
Mark
