Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for our Civil Partnership.
We are lucky enough not to need anything, but many people in the world are not so fortunate. We have visited Zambia twice now and love the country and its people. However, Zambia has been hit hard by HIV/AIDS: many are infected with it and many more are affected by this terrible disease, including children who have been orphaned and left in extreme poverty. For these children, affording a basic meal a day is a struggle, and the costs associated with education are often a step too far.
While education in Zambia is free, there are still costs to be met such as shoes, uniforms, pens, books and administrative costs. Cecily's Fund meets these costs for children throughout their schooling. The costs are ridiculously low by our standards: just £25 meets the costs for a child's primary education for a year; £50 meets the costs for a year's secondary school and £450 covers a child's entire school career. When they graduate, school-leavers are encouraged and given training to be health educators and teachers, helping to raise the number of Zambia's teachers, which has been severely reduced by HIV/AIDS.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to donate: Cecily's Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
If you are a US taxpayer, you can also donate via the American Friends of Cecily's Fund to ensure tax deductibility of your payment - visit the US section of the Cecily's Fund website for more information. Please let us know if you do this, so that we can add the amount to our running total.
We have a number of reasons to support a charity of this sort. Charles' grandparents on both sides spent many years in Africa, and his paternal grandparents lived in Zambia (then Northern Rhodesia) working in the Education Service. This family tradition was maintained by Charles' parents, who worked across Africa for the Commonwealth Development Corporation. The importance of education for everyone is close to Mark's heart and those of his family, particularly his parents and aunts and uncles, most of whom have been teachers in the UK. And we are keen to support anyone afflicted by HIV/AIDS. So please donate as much as you can!
Thank you!
Charles and Mark
