Story
I really wanted to complete the Ride London 100 again and was planning on doign this in 2020 and riding for Demelza. However due to the pandemic, it was cancelled. When the event was announced for this year I signed up via the ballot but soon remembered that I had previously decided to ride for charity and decided to switch to a charity place and raise some money for a very worthy cause.
Demelza is a charity that has been associated with AdEPT for many years, through Chris and Ian Fishwick the latter, thier founder, CEO and now Chairman.
I attended a Demelza dinner a few years ago after the Three Peaks Challenge in 2019 and got to listen to some of the stories of families and thier amazing children. I committed, (after a glass of wine) to enter the Ride 100 in 2020 to raise money for Demelza after chatting with the dad of one of the amazing children this hospice helps.
Bringing up children and raising a healthy, happy family is hard work at the best of times. When a child is born with or develops a terminal condition, the emotional and physical impact affects the whole family and can be overwhelming.
At Demelza, they focus on supporting each child, young person and family we work with to achieve the best possible life. As specialists in care for young people and family support, they continue to use our outstanding knowledge, experience and expertise to help families enjoy their lives together.
It doesn't matter if you can dontate or not, just your support will help me complete the challenge and raise some money. Every little helps!
Thank-you!
Mark
