Story
My name is Mark Lownes, thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
This page is dedicated to my sister Amy who died on 30 /12 /07.
Amy was a lovely, caring person who always put others before herself and is deeply missed by her family and friends. Amy had type 1 Diabetes for more than 10 years and developed a number of Diabetes related conditions. 3 years before her death Amy was diagnosed with an Endocrine disorder called Addison's disease. Addison's disease is a rare chronic condition brought about by the failure of the adrenal glands. According to NHS information Addison's disease affects 1 in 40,000 people in the UK.
Last year myself and 12 friends walked 28 miles over the 3 peaks of Yorkshire and raised £2,700 for Diabetes UK. This year on 16 july, Amy's birthday, I along with several friends will be cycling 146 miles from Whitehaven on the West coast to Sunderland on the East coast of England. We will be doing this over 3 days and are hoping to raise £1,500 for Diabetes UK and Addison's Disease Self Help Group (ADSHG). All monies raised will be split 50/50. On behalf of both charities, myself and my fellow coast2coasters thank you for taking the time to read this page. We would be grateful for any donation great or small.
I would personally like to thank HERMES who have very kindly donated £500 and NEXT PLC who have donated a mountain bike for me to use, which i will be selling for the charity after the event. I would also like to thank WAKEFIELD WILDCATS for donating 2 signed shirts and a family ticket to the Leeds Rhinos match, to raffle off. I would also like to thank BARNSLEY FC for donating 2 match tickets for next season and BRADFORD BULLS for donating a family ticket.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Diabetes UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support, Mark Lownes.
