Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This coming Saturday 4th March I am taking part in the Ironman New Zealand. For those of you unfamiliar with Ironman it is the ultimate triathlon, consisting of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and completed by running a marathon.
In addition to setting myself a significant personal test, I wanted to take on a challenge to raise money for the Joe Noakes Trust which is a charity very close to my heart.
Joe Noakes was a wonderful little boy who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep. Joe was severely autistic with a poor prognosis for his future development. His parents, Nick and Nina, researched potential interventions for Joe and settled on a specialist early intervention therapy called Applied Behaviour Analysis. ABA is a proven method of individualised therapy which enables children with autism to reach their full potential. The transformation in Joe was magical and dramatic. From being told he would never walk or talk he did both and more. He also revealed a mischievous and determined personality.
After Joe's passing Nick and Nina set up the Joe Noakes Trust with the aim of raising funds to help other families access the programme that did so much for Joe's early development and opened him up to the world.
If you would like to support my effort but most importantly the Joe Noakes Trust please click on the Just Giving link below.
