Without going into details: my childhood was an unholy s---show of nightmare parents and guardians, and I suffer the after-effects of it all to this day, but there are children right now going through far worse situations than I ever experienced. The NSPCC works to rescue and protect these children from horrific abusive situations, and helps them to rebuild their lives. I can't think of any more important work.
