Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of Mark.

Mark was always super fit and physically active so it came as a huge shock when in September 2014 he was diagnosed with lung cancer. In common with most lung cancer diagnoses, he had suffered no symptoms until the cancer was very well advanced and incurable. Mark spent the next few months enduring a succession of treatments in an effort to give us a bit more time but at each stage the doctors were out-smarted by the cancer, which behaved aggressively and unpredictably. So an initial prognosis of a couple of years shrank rapidly to months and then weeks.

As you would expect, Mark battled on until his final moment, fighting for every breath of life. But in the end his body was overwhelmed by the disease.

As you would also expect of Mark, his spirit, determination, sense of humour and love of life were never diminished.

So in Mark's memory please donate generously to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation who are the only UK charity specialising in lung cancer. They are fighting for earlier diagnosis and better treatments in an effort to prevent thousands each year dying from this horrible disease.
